Why March is the best time for a ski trip

With snow dumping all over the west coast, this has been one of the best ski seasons. Utah slopes have totaled 430+ inches already this season at Alta and Snowbird, with other mountains across the West Coast getting 300+ inches. With awesome conditions and less frigid weather, March is really the perfect time to head to the mountains.

It’s perfect skiing weather

With most of the freezing weather behind us, March is the perfect time to go skiing. Instead of looking like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man with 5 layers on to stay warm, you can opt for just a couple of waterproof layers. There’s also less chance of a below zero windchill. Even in nice weather though, you should protect yourself with a helmet and goggles. Make sure you have everything on this ski gear checklist before you hit the mountain.

There are fewer crowds

School vacations are over! This means fewer people on the mountain to dodge. You know that feeling when you look down the mountain and see an open slope.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for fun bars and nightlife, March is college Spring Break. It’s a great time to head to places like Park City or Vail.

You also don’t have to worry about beating the crowds to the rental shops. Not that you’d have to do that anyway if you use Ski Butlers.

Spring sales and promotions

While some resorts stay open until early summer, most places are starting to wind down in March. This means end-of-year sales and promotions! Ikon passes for the 2020 – 2021 season go on sale March 5th, and Epic passes go on sale in early April.
