Skiing with Kids at Park City

Park City/Canyons

We know you already know this, but let’s just come out and say it anyway: Park City Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in the United States. Spanning 17 peaks, 13 bowls, and 8 terrain parks. This mountain boasts terrain that goes on, and on, and on. Locals love exploring all the hidden powder stashes and corners of this endless resort before skiing down to Main Street at the end of the day. Your family will enjoy skiing the mountain, but you’ll fall in love with Park City after a full day of skiing followed by a night on Main Street. This historic mining town has a special charm. Located just 37 miles from the international SLC airport, and offering fine dining, plentiful winter adventure, a rustic and historic main street, and home to the largest ski area in the US, are just a few things that make Park City truly memorable.

Where to Stay

From hotels, to condominiums with full kitchens, town homes to accommodate large families, and luxury lodging, Park City Mountain Resort has several lodging partners. If you’re looking for a true ski in/ski out experience, check out the condos and hotels in Park City Village and Canyons Village. Whether you want to stay in the Canyons or Park City Villages, in the heart of Historic Main Street, or find something more affordable in Kimball Junction, you can find the perfect lodging accommodation for your family. The best way to weigh out your options, and learn about any booking packages, is to visit the Park City Mountain lodging website.

Where to Ski

Park City Mountain has terrain for every level of skier, and offers plentiful long, wide groomed runs. From the Bonanza Express Lift, cruise down Homerun for a long, easy run that spans 3.5 miles to the base. Have an adventurous beginner in your crew? Check out one of Park City’s Adventure Alleys! Powder Money, Short Fuse, and Hidden Bear offer winding trails that weave through the woods, and build confidence for little skiers.

Ski School and Child Care

Whether your little one needs a private or a group lesson, the Park City Mountain Ski School will help your kiddos develop a lifelong love for skiing. To make sure you can nab a spot in the ski school this winter, book online in advance. Have an infant or toddler in your family? The Little Adventurers childcare center at Park City Mountain will take care of children as young as six weeks old. Your little one will spend time playing in the snow, working on arts and crafts, and will be well taken care of so you can enjoy a day on the mountain with your partner.

Family Friendly Apres

Whether you want to unbuckle your ski boots and relax on the mountain, or whether you want to head to Main Street for the full Park City experience, there are several fun places to relax and enjoy as a family. Park City Mountain offers several delicious dining options. One of our favorite spots to eat on the mountain is the Mid-Mountain Lodge, a historic miner’s boarding house. With it’s contemporary menu and creative cocktails, everybody will be happy. For a truly elevated dining experience, head to The Farm, one of Utah’s award winning restaurants. The regionally sourced menu, and wide selection of wine makes this a truly special experience. Looking for an upscale pub and a fully loaded game room? You’ll want to stop in the Montage and visit Daley’s Pub & Rec, offering chicken tenders, Wagyu steak, along with vintage arcade games and bowling.

At some point of your trip, your family will want to explore Main Street in park city. Depending on your ability level, you can even ski the blue runs Quit’n Time or Creole directly to town! If your family wants something truly casual (and affordable!) like pizza and beer, head to Davanzas. Another kid-approved restaurant on Main Street is the Wasatch Brew Pub (we promise that YOU will approve of the beer). After dinner, peruse the shops on Main Street, and grab a cone at Moos before calling it a night.

Family Discounts

Depending on how many days you are planning to ski Park City Mountain, your best rate for day passes might actually be by purchasing an Epic Pass. If purchased early in the year, you can find particularly good deals on the passes. If you are from Utah, sign your kids up for the Epic School Kids Utah Pack, where kids kindergarten-5th grade can ski 5 days for free. Traveling from out of state? No worries! Kids 7 and under always ski free at Park City Mountain. Another option is to call the Park City Mountain Resort lodging and see if they are currently running any packages that offer discounts on day passes.
