Winter Fun in Heavenly
Tucked right on the border of California and Nevada, Heavenly Mountain is an epicenter for winter activities. From the mountain to the village, Heavenly is one of the biggest ski resorts in the United States, and once you see it, you’ll know why! Known for its massive runs and unbeatable powder, Heavenly is definitely a resort you’re going to want to put on your bucket list. Even though the skiing is obviously the best part, there’s still so much else to do at Heavenly! Here’s a few of some must do activities that will make you Heavenly vacation even more amazing.
Casinos
Just a short drive from Heavenly Village are a handful of casinos. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino offers a wide variety of gaming options along with live music and that music memorabilia that Hard Rock is known for. If that’s not your style, Montbleu Resort and Casino, Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and Lakeside Inn and Casino are just a few others located on the southern coastline of Lake Tahoe.
Heavenly Mountain Gondola
These scenic gondola rides are perfect for those of you who are seeking to experience the amazing views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains without all the hassle. Once you get to the top make sure to check out Heavenly’s observation deck to see even even more of these incredible views then head on over to the Tamarack Lodge for some cold beer and good food!
Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster
Get your speed fix without strapping on the skis with a ride down the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster! Seating up to two people at a time, this weight powered roller coaster makes its way down Heavenly Resort with incredible views of Lake Tahoe all around you.
Guided UTV Tours
One of the more unique activities that Heavenly has to offer are guided UTV Tours. These tours start at the top of the gondola at Heavenly and bring you along the top of the mountain to Blue Sky Terrace. Along the way check out the views of Lake Tahoe while also learning a little bit about the history of the lake and its surrounding mountains. With the tour lasting about 45 minutes and the UTV’s able to fit 5 people, this is a great little activity to do with friends or family.
Tubing
Also located at the top of the gondola at Heavenly is one of the most classic, if not THE most classic, winter activity there is — sledding, or more specifically, tubing! Speed down over 500 feet of vertical or watch the kids try out the mini-tubing hill right next to the main slope. Don’t worry about hiking back up either. A conveniently placed magic carpet makes it easy to lap all day.
