RESORT HIGHLIGHTS
Big Sky Resort, located in Big Sky, Montana, is not your average ski resort- it is known for the “Biggest Skiing in America” for a reason. Starting with 4,350 vertical feet and nearly 6,000 acres of terrain, the mountain itself is huge. Couple that with 400 inches of annual snowfall, 300 runs, and 36 lifts, and you may feel like you have the mountain to yourself. Speaking of lifts, Big Sky Resort is home to the first eight-seat chair in North America- Ramcharger. Considered the most technologically advanced lift in the world, Ramcharger is equipped with extra-wide heated seats, a weather-proof bubble, and an adjustable loading carpet, all to help make your skiing and riding experience one of a kind. While the word “big” may be intimidating to the occasional skier, 40% of Big Sky’s terrain is considered Beginner or Intermediate. That 40% translates to more beginner and intermediate acreage than Sun Valley, Telluride, or Beaver Creek. Not a beginner? Take a trip up the Lone Peak tram to a staggering 11,166ft to catch views of three states, two national parks, and one of the most challenging lift-serviced peaks in the world.
OFF-HILL ACTIVITIES
Skiing and Snowboarding aren’t the only ways to enjoy Montana. Big Sky is home to a number of off-day activities including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ziplining, and winter fly fishing. Up for something different? Try Spirit of the North Sled Dog Adventures. Feeling like you need to get away and recharge? Check out the Santosha Wellness Center to get your yoga, massage, and sauna fix you desire. If you are up for a short drive, the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park is just to the south of town and offers another way to enjoy this amazing part of the west. We highly recommend the guided snowcoach tours as the best way to take in the remarkable scenery, wildlife, and even Old Faithful.

With so much to do in Big Sky, you are bound to work up an appetite! Make sure to take a pit stop on the mountain at Everett’s 8800, an on-mountain log cabin with an incredible menu featuring elk chili, bison ravioli, and rosti zurichoise- a swiss potato gratin. Everett’s offers views of Lone Peak and has both indoor and outdoor fireplaces so it can be enjoyed in all conditions. If you are too busy skiing to stop at Everett’s, they are open for dinner too. Their dinner menu is equally impressive, offering a local rabbit dish, poached sea bass, and foie gras.
Want to trade the bison ravioli for a quick bite? Check out Yeti Dogs or the Hungry Moose Market & Deli for a fast reliable lunch and a great local beer selection. Speaking of beer- Big Sky is home to two craft breweries, Lone Peak Brewery and Beehive Basin Brewery- both located a short distance from the resort and offering great atmospheres to have a drink after a long day of skiing.
If you are thinking of apres right at the resort- the local favorites are Montana Jack and Scissorbills Saloon. On any given day you will find great live music in a casual setting with plenty of food and drinks to choose from.
