Transition to Winter

September 1st marks a significant change in every ski town. Locals try to get in as much summer activity as they can; hiking, biking, camping, and climbing while they enjoy the transition to fall. We here at Ski Butlers begin preparing for the winter by hiring new team members, and getting our new gear ready to hit the slopes! Ski Butlers managers each fall commit a ton of time putting together an all star team of employees to deliver exceptional customer service with your ski rentals, and getting our shops ready to be fully operational.

By far the most important thing we do each fall is spend time putting together our all star team of ski technicians and team leaders to deliver ski rentals to the ski resorts we serve. From the shop that I work at in Summit County, Colorado, our Ski Technicians deliver skis to Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper Mountain. We start this process by calling all of our excellent team members from the previous seasons to ensure they will be working with us again this coming winter. Inevitably, there are always a few open positions to be filled each fall, so we spend extensive amounts of time screening candidates, bringing them in for in person interviews, and then making sure to follow up with a few references for each candidate. Our relentless focus on hiring ensures we get the best team members we can each fall to deliver ski rentals and excellent customer service to our guests. We also do a two week long orientation for all new and returning employees to ensure everyone in the organization is properly certified to set our customers up with the proper equipment, and make your ski vacation convient.

The other important project we work on each fall is getting all of our new ski and snowboard equipment into our inventory system. This fall, we made significant increases in the amount of ski and snowboard equipment we purchased for our shops. This allows our ski technicians to deliver rental equipment to our customers that is the latest and greatest equipment in the industry. We then continue the education of our ski technicians to make sure they are equipment experts before they go on their first delivery of the winter season.

Although the fall can be a stressful time with everything that needs to get done before we can facilitate your experience in the mountains, it is also extremely exciting. New equipment arriving, lots of new employees walking into the shop to be trained, and a general excitement, not to mention chill, in the air for the approaching winter makes Fall my favorite season of the year.
