Warm Up with These Slopeside Coffee Shops

While much of skiing and snowboarding is about embracing the great outdoors, feeling that adrenaline rush, and taking in expansive mountain views, there’s also something special about the moments in between. Enter the coffee break. Whether you’re gearing up for your first run of the day, taking a midday rest to warm up, or seeking a quick afternoon pick-me-up, slopeside coffee shops and cafes are often an ideal place to elevate your mountain experience. We’ve rounded up a list of a few favorites to check out on your next ski vacation — some of which you can ski right up to.

Daly Lift | Deer Valley Resort 

Located mid-mountain in Deer Valley Resort’s Silver Lake Lodge, Daly Lift is open daily 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. With warm drinks, espresso, and fresh baked treats, it’s the perfect convenient spot for a little midday boost. 

Alta Java | Alta

A true local’s favorite, Alta Java is located slopeside at the Albion Day Lodge. With waffles, specialty coffee drinks, and Mexican hot chocolate, it’s the perfect grab and go option or a great place to take in the sunshine from the comfort of an Adirondack chair. Open 8:30a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily. 

First Tracks Kaffe | Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley Resort 

Open 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily, First Tracks Kaffe is located on the snow level of the Stein Eriksen Lodge and easily accessed from the Viking chairlift. This seasonal coffee shop serves Stein’s signature blend coffee in addition to gourmet hot chocolate and house-made pastries. If you’ve ever dined at Stein’s… then you know it’s all delicious! 

Harvest | Park City Mountain Village 

Open daily 8:00 – 3:00 p.m., Harvest has two Park City locations, once of which is conveniently located at Park City Mountain Village. Harvest admits they are fussy about their daily cup” of coffee and sources only the best fair-trade beans. In addition to their hand-selected coffee, their food options are fresh, flavorful, and unique. 

Lift Coffee Company | Mountain Square Whistler

A locally owned gourmet coffee shop located next to Whistler’s village gondola, Lift Coffee is known for its delicious lattes and flat whites. This location even has heated outdoor tables as well, so you can stay warm and take in the fresh mountain air. Open daily at 7:00 a.m.

Corbet’s Cabin | Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Located at the top of the tram at 10,450’, Corbet’s Cabin is a Jackson Hole icon. With its incredible alpine views, tasty waffles, cozy ambiance, and warm drinks, it’s the perfect spot to warm up between tram laps. Feeling bold? You can even order a little Irish cream with your coffee. Open 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily. 

Upper Standard Coffee | Stratton Mountain Village

Not quite ski-in, ski-out, Upper Standard is located in Stratton Mountain Village. Committed to quality, not only does Standard Coffee serve a mean cup of coffee, they also have fresh baked goods to choose from, Belgian waffles, ice cream, and Vermont grilled cheese! Open 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. everyday except Wednesday.

Wildflower Market Bakery and Café | Montage Big Sky

Located in the Montage Hotel, Wildflower Market is a bakery café with artisan goods and specialty coffee. Open 5:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily, it’s a perfect on-mountain location to warm up, enjoy the mountain views, and indulge in a French pastry.

The Coffee Cowboy | Telluride

A coffee cart formerly located on Telluride’s Main Street, the Coffee Cowboy moved its location to the base of the gondola in 2022. Locally owned and home to the town’s best latte at an affordable price,” you can also choose from wild west-inspired coffee treats like the Annie Oakley or Butch Cassidy. Located in the Oak Street Plaza, the Coffee Cowboy’s winer hours are 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., seven days a week.
