What To Do in Park City, Besides Ski

Park City has always been known as one of the most popular ski towns in the world. Every year it gets visitors from every part of the globe looking to witness the stunning views and the two massive resorts that sit within it. Although you’ll probably be visiting Park City for the skiing, there’s a lot of down time between when the lifts stop turning and when they start back up again. In this down time you might be wondering, what else is there to do? Here’s a few tips on things to do in Park City, besides skiing.

Woodward Park City

Since opening back in 2018, Woodward Park City has made action sports, and tubing, even more accessible to the visitors of Park City. Besides their unmistakable snow terrain park that sits outside of the facility, along with a tubing hill that stays open till 8pm, they also offer a wide variety of activities for all age groups within their facility. Some of these include skateboarding, scootering, parkour, trampolines, and even tumbling. 

Drop the kids off for a day camp where they can get a lesson on any of these action sports or stick around and enjoy some food at The Grind Café that overlooks the facility from the second floor. 

Ice Skating

If you’re still looking to slide around even after the lifts stop running then checking out one of the two ice rinks in Park City is a must. The first one is the Park City Ice Arena and Sports Complex. This Olympic-sized hockey rink hosts a variety of different activities for all ages. There’s league play along with private hockey and skating lessons from professional athletes and former gold medalists. Besides hockey and ice skating, you can test your skills by jumping into a game of broom-ball, curling, or sled hockey.

Looking for a more scenic skating experience? Then you have to check out the Resort Center Ice Rink at the bottom of Park City Mountain Resort. The ice rink is open daily with skate rentals for both hockey and ice skates. 

Park City Escape Room

The Park City Escape Room is a great activity to do with people of any age. Located right in downtown Park City this establishment hosts three different themed escape rooms that all run for about 70 minutes. Test your wits and your skills as you work through the different puzzles of one of the rooms while trying to escape with the best time possible. All the rooms are one-of-a-kind so even if you’re an escape room veteran you’ll be in for something new. 

Shop on Main Street

Once you wrap up your escape you’ll already conveniently be right in historical downtown main street, one of the staples of Park City. This street includes an abundance of different shops, art galleries and restaurants. Stop by No Name Saloon or Flanagan’s for a bite to eat or check out the Park City Museum for a little history lesson on the origins of Park City and how it became the skiing destination that it is today. 

Main street also includes its very own town lift. So even if you are skiing that day and just want to end early, you can ski from Park City Mountain Resort, right to main street. On your way down make sure to check out High West Distillery, the only ski-in, ski-out distillery in the world. Once you’re down just take the lift back up and ski down to your car. 

Utah Olympic Park

For anyone that is interested in sports history, checking out the Olympic Park is a must. Get a guided tour of the park or check out Alf Engen Ski Museum and the Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum. Finish off your tour by taking a ride down the Comet Bobsled, this bobsled ride takes you down the same track that was used in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
